Mega Spy now in public beta

Mega Spy is now in public beta, which means all users have access to it.

Go to your Spy page, then click the "test the mega spy beta" link to check it out. It still has some issues and is not yet feature complete, but we've drastically increased the performance since the original beta was released on Friday. It now runs very fast on all browsers, including MSIE. This will also really help you out if you have a slow computer.

By this coming weekend we plan to add in support for goals and campaigns, and maybe organizations and hostnames, if the performance hit on the server end isn't too bad. We'll also be trying to add a nice highlight effect on the popular data view, so you can more easily tell which data is actually changing when it refreshes.

Free accounts also have access to both versions of Spy during the beta period. Once you get a taste, we think you'll have a hard time resisting that upgrade. Mega Spy will be a Pro-only feature when the final version comes out. Blogger accounts will only have access to the old Spy. Sorry, but all the new stuff that the new Spy is doing is quite intensive on the server end. If we could offer Clicky for free to everyone - we would!

Well as a pro user I have acccess now to the public beta of mega spy.

First I would like to say that I will renew my getClicky Pro Acccount, I love it (I just miss a most active users based on the actions they have performed instead of the numbers of connection).

Concerning the MegaSpy view, here are my remarks:

1- I like sometime to jump to the google results page to see why I performed well on a particular query. But there is no little arrow to jump to google results in this new version as there was in the old one and I miss it.

2- the user panel is impressive, but it would be in my case much more useful if there was an action counter in it (ie each time you change the action for a particular user, also increase an action counter), that way I could monitor live users with high bounce rates and users who do use my site a lot.

A long-standing request of mine has been addressed, if somewhat tangentially; the flags now list full geographic details but only for visitor list on the left.

Somehow, it's more difficult to read each action, whereas the existing / current version feels better on the eye.

What about better integration for multiple accounts? So we can switch more easily between.

All in all, a step in the right direction.

Great improvement over "regular" Spy, but I agree with what other posters have said:

I need to be able to jump to the Google results page to see why I performed well on a particular query. But there is no little arrow to jump to Google results in this new version takes me back to my own website only, which is redundant with other info already presented in Mega Spy for the same search result...

Guys I'll add in the arrow for viewing external searches, don't worry! It's just I personally don't really use that feature via Spy, so I overlooked it. Sorry :)

It would be great if you can set filters from the main SPY window. I would like to be able to monitor users that have reached a certain action status.

When I filter by user and look at the content tab it only lists one result, whih is always the last page the user was looking at. I thought it would show a list of all pages that were viewed by that user. Im using Firefox 3.0.7

Everything other than the actions tab is "right now", so yes if you filter by a visitor, the other tabs don't have much content because you will only see the current page they are viewing, their single web browser, os, etc. When filtering by a user, stay on the actions tab - it will show you all of their actions, and update them as more come in.

Pretty neat Sean. Though I am still eagerly awaiting the Hourly breakdown feature. Hourly graph breakdowns of visitors today compared to yesterday is hopefully up next? Currently there is no way to determine at what hour of the day traffic is at its highest.

It's very cool to know that Getclicky is always triyng to improve it's services in order to keep itself the best analytics ever!

As far as the Mega Spy beta is concerned, I missed the option to click in the arrow and just go to the google link where the visit came from.

When focussing on a single user, it might be a good idea to add a more explicit link back to all users. Also, the "1 visitor" is a little confusing.

I'm unable to see the MegaSpy content.
I get a page that keeps saying Loading and nothing shows.
I've waiting upto 20min just to see if its a slow connection issue. But nothing happens.
Just though I'd let you know.

But I'm not complaining as everything else works and I know this is still in Beta so I'm just bringing it to your attention.

This new feature is great.
A great improvement to this feature will be the option to see all the users at once but not in a chronological time view but separated by the different users (each user will have a flow chart showing its actions)

Select Full to syndicate the full content of your post. Select Short if you only wish to syndicate the first paragraph or approximately 255 characters, whichever is shorter. This setting will be applied to each type of feed (post, comment and per post comment feed).

I like Ido's idea:

Instead of Spy creating a new row at the top, when a new action occurs, I'd like to see the url and title refresh instead within the first row Spy generates when the user first hits the site.

Then you would be able to track a single users progress much easier.

If you wanted to hone in on a particular user you could show/hide their actions and they would display within the Spy window. I'm not a fan of the multiple tabs myself and being taken away from what else is going on.

The "click here to remove all filters" link is lame. It's not user friendly.. it's in the wrong position to start with. It needs to be in the top left where it says how many users are online. When I do click on a single user don't change it to say "1 visitors online" - leave it as is. It makes Spy seem very disconnected.

Add the link to the referrer I can't really use Spy without it.

Make it so that when I click on a link to the Visitor details for a "search term" I don't get a blank set of results. Caching is great but when it affects the user experience not so much.

What happened to the "arrow" icon in the spy section that linked directly to the search page? I was a big fan of being able to see my site's ranking for a given search query directly from the spy section. Now it's gone... Big bummer!

Hi,

I can say, "It's perfect". But, it may be better if we reach Google Search results when click magnifier icon, or anywhere. I mean, when a user comes with search, we must be able to open Google with query.

Awesome job guys, I pretty much use Mega Spy all the time instead of looking at the visitors page. The filter by user feature works really fast, even on a cell modem connection in Guatemala!

Mega Spy is great but I'd like to see the following:

1) Flag info on the right hand panel, not just the left

2) The same thing a sposted above when getting Google traffic, as although I can see the click is from a Google search nothing in the item enables me to click to open Google even, let alone how query result in Google

3) Longer visible highlighting in the left panel of users as they leave -- this is currently too quick for me to see what they were viewing when they went from that view

Other than that it's looking very good.

I love it. The only thing I hope you will include (That is in the "original spy" feature, is the ability to link back to the search words on a search engine. I use this frequently in spy to see how my content is ranking on various search engines.
