New Clicky Wordpress plugin released!

Just tested this plugin. Tracking codes have no problems but the clicky stats on WP admin page doesn't load completely. I'm using Wordpress 2.8.5. It just shows the "View full stats on getclicky.com " Is it suppose to be like this?

Oh right. I can view it now. Everything seems to be working on my side. I still prefer to view the statistics right here at getclicky.com though.

Dayna's comment is important. Is that correct, that the Clicky stats with the new plug in only show up in the WP Stats page?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, our blog is Wordpress on a page(s) of the site after the slash ( http://ourlittlesite.com/blog ).

I change to the new WP plugin will I no longer see the stats for the blog on the Clicky site with the rest of the stats? If so, then the new plug in does not meet my needs and I suspect that might be true for a lot of people who are running sites that are not just a WP blog.

Viewing your stats from within your WP admin interface is just an option. Your full stats are of course still available when you login to getclicky.com.

Oh wait, I think I misunderstood. Can you rephrase that? I'm not sure what you're asking.

A suggestion: Is it possible to customise the text to be tweet when we publish a new post. I'm not sure how the default one looks like since I haven't tried it myself.

For example if the default one is "post title - short url"

Is it possible to have an option to customise it to say for eg. "New blog post - post title short url"?

cool plug in - just loaded it and gave it a try. i like the fact that i can now get the basic statistics from within wp. also, i'm trying to figure out how to use the clicky.me with twitter feature... i can't seem to figure out how this works and what i need to do to use that feature. i've entered my twitter id/password in the clicky plugin. now what? lol is there any documentation on how to use that feature? thx!

it'll automatically tweet your post once you publish it (if you leave the checkbox on the right hand side of the edit post / page screen checked).

Sorry for any lack of clarity in my question. I will try again:

I mean this. I have the Clicky code on all the pages of my site (because it is not a Wordpress site) EXCEPT for on the blog. The blog is Wordpress and it resides on xyz.com/blog. So for the blog, I use the plug-in.

So my question is, if I install the new WP plug-in in place of the old one, will I still be able to see all my stats - for the main site and for the blog - on the Clicky site, just like I can at the moment?

Or will my stats be split, so that I can only see the stats for the main part of my site on the Clicky site and have to go to the WP stats page to see the blog stats.. ?

David, the new plugin should work just like the old one in terms of how it tracks your overall site. So it should work fine.

Could be me as I am not that technical but I followed the instructions and installed plug-in plus twitter codes and it does not twitter. Also the hits on my blog are still not showing up on Clicky. They were but stopped happening sometime over the last few weeks. I guessed there was an issue so was glad to see the plug-in arrive but alas still no joy. My main site is in Drupal which works fine but my blog is attached an in WP. Any ideas please?

Wayne - were you using our old plugin when it was working before? Since the stats stopped working before you started using the new plugin, that makes me think something on your end changed. Did you change themes? Some themes don't support adding HTML to the bottom of your pages automatically, which is annoying to say the least, but nothing we can do to fix that. Are you using a caching plugin? If so try disabling that and see if it starts working.

James - I see you have supercache activated. Try resetting the cache and make sure the "ignore admins" feature is disabled, then see if it starts working.

The old plugin was working fine though?

Didn't use the old plugin, was just using an 80x15 GETCLICKY image and script.

Well then my guess is your theme doesn't support the "wp_footer" hook which is commonly used by many plugins to add HTML or javascript to the bottom of a blog.

Open up your theme's "footer.php" file and see if there is any reference to wp_footer. If not, which is my hunch, this is the problem.

What oyu can do is add the following line to this file, right before the </body> tag:



Then it should work.

My damn code stripped out my example! Here's the PHP code:

On my site (somethingstrange.com), when trying to access the Clicky Stats through the WP Dashboard, I receive "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. * This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

On Safari, it just stops loading after a couple seconds, and displays a blank area in the dashboard. No stats.

I believe I've configured everything correctly. Is this a bug?

The site stats are available by visited GetClicky.com directly.

Should update the Wordpress.org listing to reflect this updated version of the plugin.

I see the same error as Michael Ryan: "The page isn't redirecting properly ... " on Firefox.

You need to have third party cookies enabled to view your stats through the WP dashboard.

Frank we weren't even the ones who listed the plugin originally on WP.org so I don't know anything about that. Yoast said however (I think) that he was going to list it on there.

Hi Sean, Thx for the response. I am a complete techno phobe but essentially the code that stopped working was just pasted direct up and without a plug-in. It was working great and now nothing at all. I then installed the Yoast plug-in which seemed to set up fine but does not work to either twitter or clicky - I really could use some help on this

I believe the "Track names of commenters" is generating an error message in both Internet Explorer 7 and 8 on some computers. I don't have this error myself (in IE) but a friend of mine is having this error:

Will this work with whitelabel systems?

When I tried to install the worpress plugin on my blog, I got this error message.

Incompatible archive PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

Any idea on what it means, or how to fix it?

I installed it from the WP plugin admin area and it worked, but the first time I downloaded it and then installed, I got the message above. I don't know why, but it seems okay now.

This is a fantastic feature to add to the clicky arsenal, well done developers and the community for making this happen! The stats are showing up fine and I'm using 2.8.4.

I do have a question about the clicky.me urls and how they are created.

If I select "tweet post on publish" the short url is created (again, this is soooooooooooo cooool) but what about the text around the tweet - when you post to Twitter, you post the URL and a message but where is this created in this module. It would be very good to have the ability to enter a limited text string in another box in the module so that the post gets tweeted with the additional message.

Secondly, I had mentioned in a post to the "features section" about implementing some form of georedirection. One of the problems that I, and probably a few other people have, is how to integrate affiliate based advertising with a trackable method - this plugin does that for me.

But the second part is how to manage the advertising parters as effectively as possible.

A crude example:

I have an Amazon affiliate on my website.

A person visits my webpage from the US and if they click a link they go to Amazon.com. If they are coming from anywhere else, such as the UK or France they go to Amazon.co.uk. This form of Georedirection would be a great service to be able to offer people, and if it were integrated into Wordpress via another type of clicky module, such as this one, it would be fantastic.

It would be like a clicky georedirection module where you'd be able to setup clicky.me URLS and assign them to URLs based on country. It would require a pool of IPs to stick them to each of the server requests, but this is surely something you guys already have.

Hi Sean, I've installed the plug-in and ticked the box to tweet automatically when I publish a new post. When I published a new post, the title was tweeted, but no link was added. Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks

I've installed the plugin but no stats are displayed. The ares is blank. NO error, just blank. I do have quit a few other plugins but the usual suspect (cForms) was deactivated and clicky stats were still blank. Ideas?

Blobman, I've asked the developer to add a field to include custom text at the start of the tweet, he said he will be adding that. I don't plan to do redirects based on location though. That's just too niche.

Steve, I'm not sure. That's the first report I've heard of that. Edit the post in the WP admin and see if it shows you a clicky.me URL in the box on the right hand side. If so try clicking "tweet post" again, see if that works.

Michael how were you tracking your site before? Were you using the old plugin or did you have the code manually pasted into your site?

Sean, Hmmm not sure what you mean. I just signed up for clicky this morning. I installed the plugin, added the tracking code to my footer, put in my key information and thought that's all there was to it. Am I missing something?

Michael, sorry I didn't know you were new. Well first of all, the plugin adds the code to your site automatically, so you don't need to manually add it. I looked at your site and the tracking code is on it twice - once by you, once by the plugin. So remove the one you added manually.

Second, stats seem to be logging fine so I'm unsure what you were talking about stats not displaying? Did you mean within the WP interface? If so, you need to ensure third party cookies are enabled.

Hi Sean, there isn't a clicky.me URL in the box on the right-hand side. There's a check-box for 'tweet this' and beneath that there's the info about goal tracking.

Steve, the only thing I can guess then is that your admin sitekey is not entered correctly. That is required to use the clicky.me API to shorten URLs. Please verify you have entered the correct value here. Should be a 32 character string of random letters and numbers.

The latest release of the plugin 1.0.3 seems to have fixed the blank stats page in dashboard. As I noted on yoast, there was a blank character being inserted before my Site ID that was apparently the culprit. thanks for the heads-up on the duplicate tracking code. I'll get rid of it.

Hi Sean, I've checked, double-checked and triple-checked the site key is entered correctly. However, there is still no clicky.me URL in the box on the right-hand side. And, when I uncheck the 'Tweet this on publish' box and click 'Save', this box re-checks itself - i.e. there's no way of un-checking this box and it remaining unchecked!
